Around the World with Going Gourmet
Winter is coming but it's no reason to stay indoors and hide out the colder seasons. Going Gourmet wants to take you on a culinary journey around the world and fill you with heart-warming food and drink, with a series of pop up restaurants.
Taking place once a month in June, July, August, September and October, these intimate events will host cuisines from France, Sri Lanka, Italy, Belgium & Germany – taking inspiration from some of our chef's own heritage and flare for cooking!
Italian Night
We have traveled our taste buds through France and Sri Lanka, now we are heading to ITALY!

Sri Lankan Night
Next stop on our Going Gourmet around the world series, is Sri Lanka. Come down to Baxter Barn and feast on some of Sri Lanka’s finest delicacies. The menu will be shared platters, served feasting style, for you to enjoy everything listed on the menu. Due to this, please note only vegetarian dietary requirements will be catered for. As the weather cools down, we get a small break from the beautiful chaos that is wedding season (not that we’d have it any other way!) and prepare ourselves for the next wonderful couples to get married at Baxter Barn. We have used this time to review all that Baxter Barn has to offer and introduce additions that we know our brides and grooms will love.
Apart from our new menus that are being lovingly curated by our expert chefs, which you would have seen on our social media sites (not too much longer – we promise!), we have also put together amazing add-ons for our food packages.
Our personal favourite addition (and the most delicious!) has been the introduction of our new interactive food station. In front of your guests, our expert chefs will create authentic paella and serve it to order. There’s nothing quite like the aromas from the pan filling the air as it cooks – it will be sure to make your guests mouth’s water. This add on is available for our canape and feasting menus alike, and really elevates your wedding into a food experience no one has ever seen before.
For our couples who have selected (or are thinking of selecting) our super popular feasting menu, we have more news for you too. With the addition of our new raisers for the tables, which are now available for you to use, we have been able to create our next showstopper – the grazing entrée. Raisers piled high with your selection of entrees; it is really a centrepiece of its own and really drives home the message of a wedding ‘feast’.
For that post-ceremony hour, we now have the option to upgrade to add a whole leg of ham to either our grazing station or custom cheese boards. Adds a bit of opulence and a great talking point as your chef shaves it right in front of your guests.
On a smaller scale, we also have a wishing well, easel and wooden arch that are available for you to you hire if you require. If guest-interaction and beautiful photos are more your thing, we have introduced the sparkler send off, petal stations and smoke bombs for you to add. Another very recent exciting extra we have just acquired is our Baxter Barn neon sign which is included in your package, free of charge.

Their love story began at the tender age of 16 and 17, with every moment full of laughter and love since. They have built their lives around caring for others: Alex is a paramedic and Cal is a firefighter, so when it came to their wedding day, everyone wanted to give back.
They wanted their wedding to be a fun and relaxed day – filled with family, friends & food. So, their ceremony was conducted by a family friend, in front of the Sage’s Cottage - and it was absolutely brimming with long-awaited emotion.
Styled by Woops a Daisy, this was a Pinterest-worthy boho wedding, with Alex wearing a stunning lace dress thanks to Spell Bride – complete with floral headpiece and macramé floral wrap. Lawn games were scattered across the lawn at the barn, and the iconic Woops a Daisy red velvet lounge setting took centre stage for guests to relax.
The festivities began with a massive grazing table, filled with antipasto, cheese, fruit, cured meats, bread and dips, followed by their cocktail-style reception. The highlight was the interactive food station, where the Going Gourmet chef came out to cook the barbeque in front of the guests. Food aromas filled the air, complete with fire tricks and all.
Their reception was a big party, with Angus Legg entertaining the guests with his amazing voice. They ended their wedding with a bang, Alex donning a “wifey” leather jacket for their sparkler send off.

French Bistro Night
First up on the list is our French night! Come and experience a four course, feasting style, French Bistro menu.
Tickets are $65 per person with drinks as bar prices and we will begin our "Around the world with Going Gourmet" on Saturday 15th June at 6.30pm.
